Direct Email Inbound Sandbox
Capture staging emails directly through custom MX addresses on try.emailens.dev without running an SMTP client.
The Email Address Sandbox gives you dedicated receiving email addresses that safely capture messages sent from external email services, consumer webmail (Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook), or third-party platforms (Auth0, Supabase, Clerk, Stripe, GitHub, Resend).
Messages sent to this address never reach public inboxes or real users. They are intercepted by Emailens MX gateways and delivered directly to your test inbox.
When to Use Direct Email Inbound
Use the Email Address Sandbox when:
- You are testing sign-up or invitation flows triggered by a managed auth provider (e.g., Supabase Auth, Auth0, Firebase Auth, Clerk).
- You want to test transactional webhook receipts from payment processors (Stripe invoice emails, Paddle receipts).
- You want to send a manual test message directly from your personal email client (Gmail, Apple Mail) to inspect how Emailens parses it.
- Your application does not have access to a custom SMTP configuration and must rely on standard MX delivery.
Your Dedicated Sandbox Address
When you create an Email Address sandbox, Emailens provisions a unique email address:
inbox+clx9abc123def456@try.emailens.dev- Domain:
try.emailens.dev - MX Records: Managed Emailens MX routing
- Attachment Limit: Up to 5MB per email
- Quotas: Tracked under your monthly sandbox capture quota
Integrating with Auth Providers & Services
1. Supabase Auth
In your Supabase project dashboard:
- Navigate to Authentication → Email Templates.
- When creating a test user in your test script or dashboard:
const { data, error } = await supabase.auth.signUp({
email: "inbox+test_run_42@try.emailens.dev",
password: "TestPassword123!",
});- Supabase delivers the confirmation email directly to your Emailens sandbox inbox.
- Your test runner queries the Emailens API to extract the confirmation link or 6-digit OTP.
2. Resend / SendGrid / Postmark
If your application sends transactional emails through an ESP SDK in staging, simply set the to field to your sandbox address:
import { Resend } from "resend";
const resend = new Resend(process.env.RESEND_API_KEY);
await resend.emails.send({
from: "notifications@yourdomain.com",
to: "inbox+clx9abc123def456@try.emailens.dev",
subject: "Reset your password",
html: "<p>Click <a href='https://yourdomain.com/reset?token=xyz'>here</a> to reset.</p>",
});Rotating Your Receiving Address
If your test address is leaked or receiving unwanted automated noise, you can rotate it immediately:
- In the Emailens web app, navigate to your sandbox inbox.
- Click the 3-dots menu (
...) in the header next to the title. - Select Rotate address.
- Confirm the rotation modal.
A new randomized token address will be generated immediately. The old address will cease accepting incoming messages to protect your quota.
